Integrasi Aktivitas Industri, Leisure Spending, Dan Potensi Wisata Lokal Dalam Membangun Ketahanan Ekosistem Pariwisata Kabupaten Karawang

Abstract

This study examines the integration of industrial activities, leisure spending, and local tourism potential in strengthening the resilience of the tourism ecosystem in Karawang Regency, Indonesia. Karawang has a strong industrial economic base that creates opportunities for tourism development through the mobility of industrial workers, foreign workers, and business travelers. This study employs a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, in which quantitative data are collected and analyzed first, followed by qualitative exploration to provide a deeper understanding of the findings. The research draws on secondary data from 2021–2025 and primary data obtained through surveys, in-depth interviews, and field observations. The quantitative analysis focuses on industrial activity, leisure spending patterns, local tourism potential, and perceived tourism ecosystem resilience, while the qualitative analysis explores stakeholder perspectives and opportunities for cross-sector collaboration. The findings indicate that industrial activities can generate potential tourism demand, particularly through spending on culinary experiences, accommodation, recreation, entertainment, and local products. Meanwhile, Karawang's natural, cultural, historical, and culinary attractions provide opportunities to diversify tourism experiences. However, accessibility, supporting facilities, destination information, promotion, and institutional coordination remain important areas for improvement. This study proposes the Industrial–Leisure–Local Tourism Integration Model (ILLTIM) as a framework for connecting industrial economic activity with local tourism development through collaborative governance and stronger local economic linkages. The model is expected to support a more adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable tourism ecosystem in Karawang Regency.
